Biography |
Biography of Swehla. Swehla earned her Bachelors of Music with a concentration in voice from Oakwood College in Huntsville, Alabama. She continued her education by earning her Masters of Music Education at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Swehla has performed for a number of diverse audiences including Presidents Clinton and Bush, Mayors Litke (South Bend, IN) and Fahey (Omaha, NE), the Premier of Bermuda, Governors Johannes (Nebraska) and Keating (Oklahoma). She has performed as a guest soloist for the Omaha Symphony and the Voices of Omaha, and opened for Yolanda Adams, Vanessa Williams, Witness, and Rickie Dillard. She directed the Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company Gospel Choir, the University of Nebraska Gospel Choir; and was guest director for the Show Choir Camps of America at Milliken University, and the Music Experience in Barbados. Some of her compositions include 'The Capping Song' for the Nursing Department of Metro Community College, and 'The American Medley', which was performed for President Bush. She also composed and arranged the songs on her two CD projects, 'Unique God' of 1998 and her new release, 'Satisfied'. She has also done some songwriting for Gospel Incorporated in Nashville Tennesee. When she is not performing, directing, or composing, Swehla enjoys spreading her love of music by teaching piano and voice lessons, and doing workshops for churches and other organizations, in and out of the country. Her love for God is apparent as she hopes to lead many to Christ through her music. |
